On the beautiful Saturday morning of September 23, 2017, MST Solutions had the opportunity to support UMOM’s Walk for Homeless Families & Youth. With a turnout of over 30 of MST’s family members, we rallied in support of a great cause and enjoyed the scenery at the Phoenix Zoo.
The event hosted a delightful assortment of donuts, coffee, and water with a variety of fun events to keep the kids entertained. The children enjoyed time in the bouncy house, riding the carousel countless times, playing in the splashpad, seeing the animals (those that were awake) and visiting with Stormtroopers. MST could not have expected a better time and are happy that our friends at UMOM had a fantastic turnout!
UMOM is known as the state’s largest shelter for homeless families. Their “mission is to prevent and end homelessness with innovative strategies and housing solutions that meet the unique needs of each family and individual” (UMOM New Day Centers, 2017). At UMOM, individuals and groups have the opportunity to volunteer for a wide-array of activities such as Read to Me, Teen Tutor Club, the Child’s Development Center, Support and Employment Services as well as many, many others.
